GTA 6 price, editions and how to pre-order

The guesswork is over. Official prices, pre-orders open, preload date locked: here is everything you need to know before you reach for your card for GTA 6, due November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The official price

Two editions, announced by Rockstar:

• Standard edition — €79.99: the full game. The right call if you are here for the campaign.
• Ultimate edition — €99.99: digital bonuses, mostly aimed at the online mode.

Good news if you are torn: the Standard → Ultimate upgrade costs €20 and stays available after purchase. In other words, nothing forces you to decide right now.

The physical-edition trap

This is the part plenty of people will find out too late: physical boxes do not contain the game. Inside is a download code, not the data. Buying a box spares you neither the download nor the disk space.

In practice:

• you want the case on the shelf → go physical, knowing exactly what it is;
• you want to play as early as possible → digital changes nothing about the wait, but it saves you a trip on launch day.

Preload: the date that actually matters

On November 12, 2026, a week before release, preload opens. That is the date that decides whether you play at midnight or watch a progress bar while everyone else discovers Vice City.

Write it down. A game this size does not download in twenty minutes.

Where to pre-order

GTA 6 is available at Rockstar, on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, and at major retailers: Amazon, Fnac, Micromania, Cdiscount, Leclerc.

Two safety reflexes:

• cut-price keys before release are prime scam territory. A €30 gap on a title this big has no reason to exist;
• limited physical editions sell out fast — vinyl, goodies, numbered runs. There, the scarcity is real.

Should you pre-order at all?

Let's be honest: for a standard digital copy, stock is infinite and there is no rush. Pre-ordering buys you three things:

1. Locking in the November 12 preload without thinking about it.
2. Securing a limited physical edition.
3. Spreading the cost if your retailer offers payment on delivery.

Beyond that, you can wait for the first November 19 impressions and lose nothing.

What Ultimate will not give you

One key point for sizing up your purchase: the online mode is not there at launch. Court documents revealed a 32-player format, but Rockstar has confirmed nothing officially, and arrival is expected sometime in 2027.

And a good chunk of the Ultimate bonuses target exactly that online side. Paying €20 more today for content you can use in a year is a choice — not a no-brainer. The upgrade will still be there.
